Our Pilot Training Program

Flight training is comprised of two parts – flight instruction and ground training. At Signal Aviation, our flight and ground school lessons are designed by educational experts to work together for maximum retention.

Ground Instruction
The ground training portion of our program utilizes Cessna's Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) kit which allows you to learn at your own pace. You learn through the latest technologies, including fully interactive graphics, full-motion, full-screen video and animated graphics. The CBI program even tracks your performance, which helps you and your instructor concentrate on areas that present you with the greatest challenge. You'll watch presentations by top aviation educators, see dramatic, enlightening in-flight footage, take interactive quizzes, learn interesting trivia, and prepare for upcoming lessons before you ever climb into the airplane. You'll learn everything you need to know – not only to pass your exam, but also to be a knowledgeable, competent pilot.

Flight Instruction
Flight training takes place in the airplane and the FAA requires you to have a minimum of 40 hours of flying time before applying for a license. Those 40 hours include time behind the controls - with and without your flight instructor - and a couple of cross-country and night flights. You'll learn the skills and gain experience to safely operate an airplane on your own and pass your check ride.

A variety of skills are required to make you a safe pilot. First, you'll learn to take-off. Next, you'll learn to handle the airplane in a variety of situations – turns, climbs, and descents. Then, you'll master landings and fly by yourself for the first time. Soon, you'll navigate to other airports, both with your instructor (who, by now, will rarely take the controls) and by yourself. You'll fly at night. And you'll try instrument flying, where you'll use the cockpit instruments to control the airplane.

Our Pledge
Signal Aviation is committed to providing our students with the best learning experience possible. At our flight school you will find...

  • A safe, friendly, comfortable, dynamic atmosphere in which to learn.
  • A knowledgeable flight instructor to mentor you, motivate your learning and accommodate your requirements.
  • Training in clean, new, dependable Cessna aircraft.

We utilize Cessna’s CBI program because it is the only integrated flight-training system in existence. Integrated means that both the ground and flight training segments are “paired” so that retention rates are higher and learning is faster. In the end, you'll learn quickly and efficiently – while having fun!
